What is RLUSD?
RLUSD is a US-dollar stablecoin issued by Ripple, fully backed by cash and short-term US government reserves. On the XRP Ledger it functions as the base trading and settlement currency: tokenized treasuries, commodities and other stablecoins are quoted and settled against it. It is the single largest tokenized real-world asset on XRPL — currently about 64.64% of all tracked RWA value and 84.19% of XRPL stablecoin value.
Why RLUSD matters for XRPL RWAs
Real-world-asset markets need deep, trusted cash liquidity to function — somewhere to mint into, redeem out of, and price against. RLUSD provides that on the XRP Ledger, which is why its supply is a leading indicator of XRPL's broader tokenization activity. As issuers like Ondo, Circle and Société Générale-FORGE bring assets on-chain, RLUSD is the rail they settle through.
